No Injuries Reported After Overnight Apartment Fire

Daleville, VA— At 02:51AM the Botetourt County Dispatch Center was alerted of an apartment fire at 161 College Drive, Daleville. Initial reports indicated that a window air conditioning unit was on fire and an attempt was being made to evacuate the building.

Upon the arrival of initial units, flames were visible from two of the second story windows and tenants reported that everyone in the complex had been accounted for. Crews immediately began attacking the fire and brought the situation under control in fifteen (15) minutes.

The original apartment involved was heavily damaged from fire, smoke and water and two additional apartments sustained smoke and water damage. A total of twelve (12) people have been displaced. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. The American Red Cross was call in to assist with those in need of temporary placement.

Crews responded from: Troutville, Read Mountain, Fincastle, Blue Ridge, Botetourt Fire & EMS, the Botetourt Sheriff’s Office, and mutual aid units from Roanoke County’s Hollins and Hershberger Road stations.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
